£420,000 Bridging Facility Enables Farm Diversification Project in Pembrokeshire

Alchemy Business Finance has completed a £420,000 bridging facility for a Pembrokeshire farming business developing a rural diversification project.

The client, a mixed livestock farm, planned to convert an unused agricultural building into high-end holiday accommodation to create an additional income stream for the business.

However, strict project timelines and delays with longer-term development finance placed the project at risk, with contractors already scheduled and planning approvals in place.

Following an introduction from an agricultural broker, Alchemy Business Finance reviewed the project and structured a short-term bridging facility worth £420,000 secured against the farm’s rural property assets.

The funding enabled construction work to commence immediately while the client progressed a longer-term refinance exit strategy.

Work on the conversion is now underway, with the completed development expected to provide year-round supplementary income alongside the core farming operation.

Dean Pollen commented:
“Diversification is becoming increasingly important for many farming businesses. In this case, the client had a strong project with clear long-term potential but needed a lender capable of moving quickly and understanding rural property.”

Alchemy continues to support agricultural diversification projects across England and Wales, including holiday accommodation, renewable energy and farm retail developments.
