Highlands, Scotland – Alchemy Business Finance has completed a £185,000 asset finance facility for a dairy farm in the Scottish Highlands, enabling the business to secure essential winter feeding and slurry handling equipment during a period when cashflow is typically under pressure.
The funding supported the purchase of a new feed wagon and slurry tanker, improving herd nutrition management, housing routines, and winter slurry compliance. The farmer had explored options with high-street lenders, but experienced delays linked to year-end credit processes and reduced appetite to fund on-farm machinery during winter.
Alchemy structured the transaction on an asset-led basis, focusing on the strength and value of the equipment rather than relying on land-based security or seasonal profit cycles. This approach enabled swift approval and payout, ensuring the machines were operational ahead of the peak winter housing period.
Dean Pollen, Managing Director at Alchemy Business Finance, commented:
“Winter is one of the most demanding periods for livestock businesses. Feed, slurry, and housing place pressure on equipment and cashflow, while mainstream lenders typically slow down heading into year-end. By focusing on the assets, we were able to move quickly and support the farm when it mattered.”
The transaction highlights the value of specialist agricultural lenders with the capability to deploy capital in alignment with winter workloads rather than traditional banking calendars.
