A mixed livestock farm in North Yorkshire recently decided to replace an ageing round baler after increasing maintenance costs threatened to disrupt silage production.
The business selected a McHale V660 variable chamber round baler, recognising its reputation for producing consistent, high-density bales while operating efficiently across varying crop conditions.
The total investment came to £48,900.
The farmer wanted to secure delivery before first-cut silage but preferred to retain cash for fertiliser, contractor costs and seasonal labour.
Working alongside the farm’s commercial finance broker, Alchemy Business Finance arranged an asset finance facility allowing the purchase to complete ahead of the harvesting season.
Reliable baling equipment remains fundamental to livestock businesses, where delays during narrow weather windows can significantly affect forage quality.
