£185,000 Funding Package Helps Tenant Farmer Secure Critical Harvest Machinery

A tenant farmer in Lincolnshire was able to complete the purchase of a replacement combine harvester after securing a £185,000 funding package through Alchemy Business Finance ahead of harvest.

The farming business had suffered a major setback after its existing combine experienced a serious mechanical failure just weeks before harvest was due to begin. With repair costs uneconomical and contractor availability limited, the farmer urgently needed replacement machinery to avoid significant crop losses.

Despite having a profitable and well-run operation, the business faced difficulties securing support through traditional lending routes due to its tenant farming structure and lack of property ownership.

Following an introduction from a commercial finance broker, Alchemy Business Finance reviewed the case directly with the client and focused on the strength of the business, machinery requirements and seasonal urgency of the situation.

A tailored funding package worth £185,000 was approved within 24 hours, allowing the replacement combine to be secured and delivered before harvest operations commenced.

The farmer has since completed harvest successfully and retained several key farming contracts that may otherwise have been placed at risk.

Dean Pollen, Managing Director at Alchemy Business Finance, commented:
“Tenant farmers are often unfairly overlooked despite operating strong businesses. In this case, the machinery was absolutely critical to keeping the business moving during harvest, and speed was essential.”

Alchemy Business Finance continues to work closely with brokers supporting farming clients who require practical funding solutions aligned to the realities of agricultural trading cycles.
