Forestry Contractor Expands with Investment in Specialist Equipment

Demand for professional forestry services continues to grow across many parts of the UK, creating opportunities for contractors to expand their capabilities.

One forestry business operating across Cumbria and Northumberland recently secured several additional woodland management contracts that required greater timber handling capacity.

To meet demand, the business invested in a Botex timber forwarding trailer, hydraulic loading crane and forestry winch, enabling larger volumes of timber to be moved safely from woodland sites.

The equipment package totalled £73,600.

While the contracts offered excellent long-term potential, the contractor wanted to avoid placing pressure on working capital while recruiting additional staff and mobilising new sites.

Their broker introduced the funding proposal to Alchemy Business Finance.

Following an assessment of the business and the specialist equipment being acquired, Alchemy arranged an asset finance facility that enabled delivery before work commenced.

Specialist forestry equipment represents a significant investment, but reliability is critical.

Contractors often work in challenging environments where equipment downtime can quickly disrupt project schedules and increase operating costs.

Dean Pollen said:

“Forestry businesses require highly specialised equipment that often operates in demanding conditions. Understanding the assets and how they generate income is an important part of assessing these proposals.

“The forestry sector continues to present excellent opportunities for brokers working with rural businesses.”

As woodland management and sustainable timber production continue to receive increased attention, brokers are seeing growing demand for finance supporting specialist forestry machinery.
